The Miracle Of GeoIonic
GeoIonic™ is a 100% Australian made, technically advanced soil stabilisation compound that is demonstrably one of Australia's most exciting and innovative infrastructure products. This unique compound was developed by Project Innovations in Sydney, Australia, specifically for use on roads and areas of vehicular traffic.
The electro-chemical or “ionic” nature of GeoIonic™, improves the CBR of sub-grades, increases pavement tensile strength, and fortifies the road’s weight bearing capabilities.
THE SCIENCE
GeoIonic has a powerful binding action on soil particles. It combines with the aggregates and fines to create a hard durable surface that resists surface abrasion and dusting. It increases compaction and density and reduces voids, thus reducing water penetration, swell, shrinkage, and plasticity thus reducing the damaging effects of wetting and drying cycles.
Geo-Ionic also acts as a compaction aid to increase density. The specialised compound creates a high level of surface activity and imparts an electrical charge that induces ionic exchange in clays with high cation exchange capacity. This action modifies the clay reducing its electrostatic attraction to water, enabling greater particle realignment to increase compaction and stabilise the clay.
Acting as an ionic soil stabiliser the principal action of GeoIonic is through its powerful ionic binding properties. The fines and aggregates are bound together electrostatically in roads treated with GeoIonic. The result is not as rigid as cement bonds, which makes concrete prone to cracking. GeoIonic allows for some flex and resilience, and therefore treated roads display the best characteristics of a bound pavement.
APPLICATION
Application is very easy. One litre of GeoIonic will treat one cubic metre of unsealed road.
1) The process is to scarify the sub grade to a depth of 100mm or specification directed by the road engineer.
2) Dilute the GeoIonic compound in water and spray it onto the scarified surface using a water truck.
3) Mix the sub grade soil with a grader, windrow, shape and camber the road as per the design specifications.
4) Roll the road using a vibrating compacter. The treated surface
It is ready to drive on immediately.
HOW MUCH TO USE
As an example assume a one kilometre stretch of unsealed road, six (6) metres wide and one hundred (100) millimetres deep. Using our formula.
1000 X 6 X 0.1 = 0.6 M3 OR 600 Litres of GeoIonic
We provide you with a simple mathematical formula to calculate the speed rate of your water tanker and that’s it… Its that easy.
The equipment required is only that typically found on any road construction site. A grader with ripper, a water tanker to apply the compound and a compacting roller.
APPLICATION FOR DUST SUPPRESSION
For dust control, only water spraying equipment is required. Mix 1 part GeoIonic road stabiliser compound to 1000 parts of water.
